Well done to all who took part in our first Race night last night. Scottsmans Bay didnt let us down and provided a perfect arena for our first race. The winds and big sea outside the bay forced us to switch the scheduled long distance race with the sprint instead. Nine paddlers took to the line for a beach sprint entry type start. Jane and Katie paddled strongly into a slight breeze and did the ladies proud with both performing strongly. Jane came up the beach in first place followed closely by Katie, well done ladies!!! In the mens event Paul got a quick start from the beach and took the first buoy ahead of the pack. With 2 groups taking different lines it was obvious to see that tactics were well thought out. Paul got to the half way mark, followed closely by Craig, Keith, Terry, Ed, Dave and Leon. The paddle back home produced a slight glass off but the race order didnt change much, with Paul finishing in just under 20 min to take first followed closely by Craig, Keith, Terry, Ed, Dave and Leon. Again well done to all, it was great to see the old regulars back on the water and fab to see some new faces too! Welcome along guys. Looking forward to seeing you all again next week guys. Sandycove, registration 6.30 for 7 pm start. Selection of photos in Gallery. Hope you all enjoyed yourself? RESULTS: Paul 10pts. Craig 8 Keith 7 Terry 6 Ed 5 Dave 4 Leon - Jane 10 pts. Katie 8 | |
