Series 2 of our Race Nights got under way last night in perfect Dublin Bay conditions. A new slightly longer course than series 1 went down well with all paddlers. We had 9 SUPers line up to do battle for the next 6 weeks, and it was great to see so many new faces to our race nights. Last nights race was an opportunity to set times from which handicaps will be based, and it looks like our Champs from series 1 will have some serious contenders! So the times from last night were as follows: Tim 28.58 Terry 29.57 Ed 31.07 JD 32.20 Richard 33.11 Barry 33.23 Dale 37.26 Paul R 44.06 Rachael 47.22 Next weeks handicaps will be as follows: (Names in start order.) Rachael 0.00 Paul R +3.16 Dale + 9.56 Barry + 13.59 Richard +14.11 JD +15.02 Ed + 16.15 Terry +17.25 Tim + 18.24 WELL DONE EVERYONE, GREAT TO SEE SO MANY PADDLERS ON THE BAY!

This is going to be very interesting series . Bit of a race group in jd's time section with the 2 lads. The lead positions must of changed 3 or 4 times in last 5 minutes. I think there will be some great fun around the marker buoys as the groups tighten up this week. Could be lucky with conditions again tomorrow.

Last nights race didnt go ahead due to strong winds! BUT we did get the group out for a nice downwinder from Sandycove to Killiney. Nice to see all the regular racers out and one new S.African racer....welcome onboard Leon. If anybody else is thinking of joining us on the race nights do come along next week and join in the fun! I got to take a few pics of the group on the water and will pop them up in the Gallery soon........ Stay tuned for next weeks Race night report!

Thanks Dale! Well i promised results and times first thing this morning so here we go........ Race 2 saw nice conditions on the bay. A small roll and light winds provided a very interesting race, with things hotting up nicely for next week. Firstly welcome to 2 new racers this week, Eoghan and Shane! Paul led out the group this week, and held his large lead to finish in first place AND set a new PB, so big points for Paul R this week!!!! Eoghan followed him in second, displaying an impressive performance for a man on a SUP for only his third time. One to watch i hear you say! Ed finished in third setting a PB in the process. Watch this racer or should i say tactician! Barry took fourth place, coming within 9 seconds of his PB. Terry paddled strongly from start to finish again to take fifth, 29 sec outside his PB. Shane took sixth nursing a shoulder strain, and should be one to watch next week with a big handicap! Dale had another strong paddle and seems to be really taking the paddle between his teeth, another one to watch as he will be heading off first next week! Tim finished eight well outside last weeks time. I mentioned the word TACTICIAN earlier.... watch this racer.... hes got something up his sleeve!!! Well done all! Next weeks race brief takes place at 6.30pm prompt, with race starting 6.45pm. This weeks places and times: 1. Paul R 38.26 6+3 pts. 2. Eoghan 34.47 3. Ed 31.04 5+3 pts. 4. Barry 33.32 4 pts. 5. Resonable conditions on the bay again last night. Only 5 racers lined up to do battle this week.....must be getting too cold for the others!!!! Shane led the group out with a big lead followed by Eoghan, Tim, Ed and finally Terry. With a few fallers during the race Eoghan paddled in first with a new PB, followed by Tim, then Ed again setting a new PB by only 2 seconds!!!! Shane came in next only 3 seconds outside his PB (ouch!), he was followed by Terry who struggled to find his recent form on a new YELLOW board. Again well done to all! Next weeks race brief takes place at 6.30pm prompt, with race starting 6.45pm.

Interesting nights racing last night with perfect October conditions. Their was a nice clean swell running with glassie conditions on the inside of Scotsmans Bay. We had outstanding performances with 5 of the 6 paddlers setting new PB's!!!!!!!!!! Shane and Paul R had a battle royal all the way to the finish line with Shane nipping Paul for first place. Both boys setting PBs by almost 5 mins. Tim took third with a new PB by just 1 sec. Eoghan took fourth place with a PB of 1.5 mins, followed by Ed with another PB. Barry took sixth narrowly missing out on the PB frenzy. The dark evenings are back and we have decided to bring the race start times back to 6.30 pm, with race brief at 6.15 pm. I hope this suits all! This weeks places and times 1.Shane 34.08 2.Paul R 33.32 3.Tim 28.57 4.Eoghan 31.30 5.Ed 30.45 6.Barry 34.06

Hi guys,
Sorry i missed out on tuesday due to illness and the previous week due to holiday.
Looks like next week is out due to working away.
So it looks like I have to retire with regret from the race series.
At least you will now all have more of a chance!!!!!
Paul R looks like he's in with a chance at victory even with cheating week one!!!
Happy racing.

Well, well, well! Its all hotting up in the race series. Last night saw 6 paddlers take to the water. Leon joined us for his first race, but wasnt eligable for scoring points. The 5 others all had PB's. Shane took the lead later in the race with an excellent paddle and well timed break to the front. Ed finished second after leaving over 6 mins behind the first starter. He took a good chunk of his PB in the process. Barry took third after leading the group for a good while. Eoghan paddled a strong race to finish Fourth, Paul R fifth, and Leon sixth.
This weeks places and times: 1. Shane 31.51
2. Ed 29.16
3. Barry 32.47
4. Eoghan 30.45

Handicaps for next week to follow.................. With the final night looking like it could be very close, i need to say that if there is a joint first placing, the winner will be the one with the most race wins! If there is still a tie, it will be the paddler with the fastest course time!
I am hoping to run next weeks race on Wednesday night not Tuesday as i have something on that i cant get out of. The race is going to be the last and going to be very close!!!!!!!!! I hope this suits all, and will confirm with all asap that this is final.
Reckon we should head out for a bite to eat afterwords too! Any suggestions?

WOW What a night for our final race!!! Smooth swell, clear visiability, and a beautiful full moon to race under. Mind you the sand on the beach was cold enough to give you frost bite! Five paddlers took to the line to do battle for the overall title of Series 2 Champ! Four of these were only separated by 2 points....... it was all to paddle for. Dale, just back from retirement, led the group out and paddled strongly to win the race, setting a new PB in the process! He was followed by Paul R, who also pulled it out of the bag on the final night to set a PB and finish in fourth place. Shane off next, and after a shaky start paddled another PB to finish second, just behind Dale. Eoghan had a lot of work to do to catch these guys, and paddled another strong race to also set another PB. Ed took off last and had to bust a gut to reel in all but Dale, setting yet another PB (one in every race), and posting a course record, to finish second and take the title of Race series winner by just 1 point! This weeks places and times: 1. Dale 34.50 PB 2. Shane 29.47 PB 3. Ed 28.14 PB 4. Paul R 32.28 PB 5. Eoghan 29.52 PB Points Table:

Well done Ed, and well done to all our racers this series. I hope you all enjoyed the competition and craic!!!!
