Last night saw perfect racing conditions for the first night of our 8 week Race Series.

4 racers took to the water, with local knowledge helping Tim take the group home in style. Terry and Ed have a right old battle for second place, with Terry pipping Ed with a well timed sprint finish. Fran paddled with finnesse to finish in fourth, giving him an interesting handicap going into next weeks race.

Unfortunatly there were no points for this first race as its purpose is to set handicaps. Bring on next week!

Finish times as follows:

Tim    23.30

Terry  24.04

Ed      24.06

Fran   28.10

Next weeks handicaps in starting order:

Fran                                           -4.40

Ed                                              -0.36

Terry                                          -0.34

Tim                                             0.00

Anybody joining for first time  0.00

Last night provided us with a very low tide for Race 2 of the series. Again the same 4racers took to the water. Fran who had over 4 minutes on the field managed to keep the lead coming home to win 4 points. Tim had the fastest time in the field but managed to make little ground on Frans handicap, maybe it was the new paddle Fran! Yet again Tim and Terry provided the spectators with a battle royal, with Terry holding on to take third place. Ed is insisting on drug testing at next weeks race.

Fran 4 pts.

Tim 3 pts.

Terry 2 pts.

Ed 1 pt.

Bonus points next week lads for those who can break their PB!

Finish times as follows:

Fran   26.43

Tim    23.07

Terry  23.46

Ed      23.51

Next weeks handicaps in starting order:

Fran                                           -3.36

Ed                                              -0.44

Terry                                          -0.39

Tim                                             0.00

Anybody joining for first time  0.00

Race night number 3 took place last night. This was a very enjoyable one! Moderate north easterlys provided us with a challenging side on chop which made everyone work hard. The warm up paddle up to Bullock hbr was interesting to say the least. Six paddlers took to the water, with our first lady joining the series. Well done Maura, an impressive performance.

Tim joined with an unnamed Kenyan pacemaker led the field, setting a new course PB in the process, and collecting 5 bonus points. Fran on a new board, followed Tim in with his pants around his ankles.... dont ask!!!!!! Ed also sporting a new board got the better of a tired Terry this week, and Maura on her first race of the series did women of the world proud in difficult conditions. Well done all, looks like this series is really hotting up!

Finish times were as follows:

Tim     23.01

Fran    26.48

Ed       27.37

Terry   29.16

Maura 32.03

Next weeks handicaps will be:

Tim     0.00

Fran   +3.47

Ed      +4.36

Terry  +6.15

Maura +9.02

Looking fwd to next week.

Night 5 presented us with a real summers evening to do battle. Despite limited parking and a packed beach the boys presented themselves equiped with cowboy hats, ready to do battle.

Cowboy hats! Why? No idea.

Think it had something to do with the naming of the boards.

Well done Fran,  the only one to come up with a board name....TAYTO!

Ed led out the group followed closely by Terry, who took a tumble as he passed the 40 ft. Fran and Tim paddled from behind in a well planned race to pick off one then the other to finish first and second respectively.

Finish times were as follows:

Fran     23.02

Tim      20.42

Ed        24.28

Terry    24.59

Next weeks handicaps in starting order are:

Terry        0.00

Ed          +0.31

Fran       +1.57

Tim        +4.17

The points are looking like this so far:

                        1          2          3          4          5          6          7          8   TOTAL

Tuff conditions again last night for the sixth race night. The wind blew up minutes after we started, and just our luck it was straight into our faces. Terry took advantage of getting away first and help the lead all the way. He was using a new improved paddle, and the stewarts enquiry hasnt been sorted yet!!

Tim paddled like a man possesed from the back to finish second, followed by Ed and Fran.

Terry named his board just in time for their victory......WOLF! Tim called his SNATCH AND GRAB!

Finish times were as follows:

Terry    24.30

Tim      21.12

Ed        25.49

Fran     27.37
